The Journal of Oncology Reports evaluated the effects of aronia berries on specific cells in brain cancers. They contain significantly higher levels of polyphenols than other fruits such as blueberries, grapes, etc. Aronia berries were already a staple of the diet of Native Americans such as the Kuna of Panama, among whom the incidence of cancer, diabetes and heart disease is less than 20%.

The Journal of Oncology Reports evaluated the effects of Aronia on a specific glioblastoma line of brain cancer cells, known as U373.

Previous studies had already shown that it has unique properties against many cancers, but especially brain cancer.

It turns out that Aronia, which is rich in flavonoids and anthocyanins, extraordinary antioxidants and nutrients, is necrotic to the U373 cancer cell line, which means that it actually kills cancer cells.

Previous studies had already shown that Aronia berries are one of the richest sources of antioxidants for fighting cancer. A study published earlier this year in the journal PLoS One explains how Aronia has unique chemotherapy properties for tumour cells associated with lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Aronia berries are rich in minerals and vitamins, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, B2, B6 and folic acid.
